Commis Chef

An exciting opportunity for a Commis Chef to work in this well-established country house 4 star hotel on the outskirts of Southampton, Hampshire has arisen following refurbishment of our restaurant, ‘Hampshire’s’.

Consistently recommended for our fine dining, quality of food and outstanding service we are now looking for an additional member to join our team as a Commis Chef.

In this role you will assist the Head Chef and his team in general in providing an effective service for external and internal customers. You will have bags of stamina and enjoy the fast pace of working in a busy kitchen. You also need to be able to stay calm and work as part of a team during a frenetic service.

Key responsibilities:

To carry out duties as required and to prepare meals on appropriate section as directed by Head Chef
To make sure all food are prepared to the correct standard and in conjunction with any training given
To ensure good food quality and correct quantity and maintain procedures on portion control
To be available to attend all training sessions instructed to attend
To comply with Health & Safety, Food Hygiene

Skills and Knowledge

Strong Communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
Innovative
Pro-active and reliable
Able to work alone and within a team

Previous experience of working in a four star, rosette awarded hotel restaurant and in banqueting is desirable, but not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.

You will be working a 5 day week, straight shifts.

Uniform is provided.
